Volusia County Fair & Expo Center Selects Marketing/Event Director

PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 April 22, 2013

From: Volusia County Fair Association
            3150 E. New York Ave.
            Deland, Florida 32724

The Volusia County Fair Association announced the selection of John Owens, CFE, as their Marketing/Event Director effective immediately.

Owens had been the Marketing/Event Director at the Volusia County Fair & Expo Center from 2000 to January of 2005 when he took the position of Fair/Facility Manager at the Anderson County Fair in Anderson, SC.  Three years later the Fairground was sold to Anderson University and Owens was selected as the General Manager of the Nevada State Fair in Reno, NV.  After a successful two years there the OABA (Outdoor Amusement Business Association) brought him back to Florida as the Director of Marketing and Member Services.

John and his wife, Sally, now live in Edgewater, Florida.  He has an extensive Fair, promotion, marketing and Social Media marketing experience. He is a national speaker and Author of “Opening Night Creating Successful Events”.

David Viers, CFE, the Executive Director of the Volusia County Fair, said the Fair was really happy to have Owens back.  It’s a great fit for us and we are fortunate that he was available.  Danny Pope, President of the Volusia County Fair Association, and the Fair Directors all echoed the sentiment.

Having Owens back should do nothing but help make this Fair and facility even better.
